The Smallest Way to Start
Nobody should commit six figures to a training method their workforce has never worn. A pilot exists to answer one question: does your team perform measurably better after practicing in VR than after your current training? What a pilot includes

- Multi-language localization
- Multiplayer, unless the procedure itself requires two roles
- A fleet. Pilot headsets cover the test cohort, not the workforce
- Certification. We do not issue cards, and we will say so on the call
What you provide
The written procedure, photos or drawings of the site or equipment, one subject matter expert with authority to sign off, the test cohort, and the success criteria. You do not need 3D models, a VR team, or existing digital content.
Timeline
Roughly 8 to 12 weeks from kickoff to headset. The schedule risk is not the VR work, it is subject matter expert review. Naming that person before kickoff is the cheapest schedule insurance available.
Who owns it
You own the scenario and its source content, pilot or not. Ask every vendor this question in writing before you sign anything, including us.

Example EPC safety pilot scope
An EPC contractor with crews across three sites wants to know whether VR changes confined space entry behavior before committing to a multi-scenario program. The pilot builds one scenario: permit verification, atmospheric testing, attendant and entrant roles, and emergency extraction, modeled on their own permit process. Cohort of 40 workers across two sites, English and Spanish. Success criteria agreed at kickoff: measurable improvement in permit verification steps completed correctly versus their current classroom baseline.
This is a worked example to show how a pilot gets scoped. It is not a case study and does not describe a client engagement.
What happens after the pilot
You get performance data against the criteria you set, and a decision. If the data does not justify expanding, that is a legitimate result and the scenario is still yours. If it does, the pilot scenario becomes the first module of the program rather than something rebuilt from scratch, and scaling adds scenarios, languages, sites and LMS integration in that order.
